With this new development, the video games retailer will start using Flexa’s SPEDN app to accept Cryptocurrencies.
Flexa has provided payment support for various cryptocurrencies in the US over the last few months. It recently enabled movie operator Regal Cinemas to accept crypto payments across over 500 US locations.
It also helped the convenience store chain Sheetz start accepting DOGE and other cryptocurrencies back in May. We also reported that it’s launching support for Cardano (ADA) in over 40,000 locations.
DOGE and SHIB Price Rallies in the Last 24 Hours
With SHIB and DOGE dropping in value for weeks now, this new announcement might be the potential catalyst they need to return to their previous heights or get close at least.
Both meme coins have lost a significant portion of their gains in the year in the past 30 days as they dropped in value along with Bitcoin. According to CoinMarketCap, Shiba Inu has lost more than 30% of its value over the past 30 days, while Dogecoin has also lost over 25%.
However, both coins have seen a rise in their prices in the past 24 hours, with DOGE increasing by 2.5% while SHIB had a more significant 8.59%. Even though this might not necessarily be because of the GameStop announcement, it’s a good sign for the meme coin as they struggle to get out of the red zone.

2021 has emerged to become a milestone for meme-based coin Shiba Inu. Just ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities, Shiba Inu has been listed as a buying, selling, and trading option on Australian exchange CoinJar. Founded in 2013, CoinJar is touted as one of Australia’s longest running crypto exchanges. Six more tokens, Fetch.ai, Origin Protocol, Cartesi, Orchid, Quant Network, and Audius have been added to the platform along with SHIB, as CoinJar expands its crypto offerings for people to experiment with and explore.
“In retrospect, it was inevitable. SHIB is here. Starting today you can buy, sell, send and trade Shiba Inu using your CoinJar Wallet. With CoinJar Card you can even use SHIB to do some last-minute Christmas shopping,” the company said in a statement. CoinJar Card is like a crypto debit card which allows users to make purchases at any outlet which accepts Google Pay or Apple Pay.
The Carolina Hurricanes, a professional ice hockey team that is based in North Carolina, will accept crypto payments on their e-commerce platform in partnership with BitPay. Crypto-savvy Caniacs will be able to buy various merchandise items.
A spokesperson for the team has confirmed to U.Today that Shiba Inu, the best-performing cryptocurrency of the year, will be among the available payment options.
BitPay added support for the hottest meme coin in early December, giving it a major adoption push.
The leading crypto payment processor also supports Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Wrapp Bitcoin, Ether and several stablecoins.
